Even at the Grave We Make Our Song

Facilitated by Christian Reflections on Death and Dying

Dates:  Saturday, February 28, 2026

Time:    9:30 AM - 2 PM

Where: Trinity Historic Chapel

In the midst of life, we are in death: of whom may we seek for succor but thee, O Lord’. These words, from the old medieval liturgy formed part of the introduction to the burial rite in the Book of Common Prayer. Death is something we face every day, and yet we hide from it, ignore it, distract ourselves, and pretend it will never come to us or those we love.

What does the Christian faith say about death, resurrection, grief, mourning, and hope beyond the grave?

In the morning part of this gathering, we will discuss the many views, understandings, and traditions around death and dying in our culture. We will examine questions such as ‘is there a right way to grieve?’, ‘how long does grief last?’, ‘how do we talk openly about death?’, ‘what hope can our faith offer us when we face death?’

The morning session (9:30 AM – Noon) will be facilitated by members of the Trinity Spiritual Connections Working Group

The shorter afternoon session (1—2 PM) will be a practical seminar on things we to consider when planning ahead for our own funeral, led by the staff of Thompson Funeral Home.

Note: this will not be a sales pitch, but rather, a helpful and informative session to provide clarity over what one needs to think about with respect to their wishes and practical considerations.

Lunch will be provided by the Thompson Funeral Home

Please call the church office to register.

We'd love to have you – all are welcome. Let's connect.
