    Many years ago, a wise spiritual director suggested to us, at the beginning of our retreat, that before we start our spiritual journey we recall the last or all of those times when we were really angry, or when we experienced a deep resentment over something or against someone. After a few moments of reflection, he told us to take a deeper look at our anger and resentment and regard them not as our sins or enemies, but rather as good friends who challenge us to be aware of our innermost values, such as our desire for justice, our need for kindness, love, and peace.
