    Julie Cruickshank presented a guest sermon today. In the fall of 2007, Julie was appointed to serve on the board of the Social Justice and Advocacy Committee for the Diocese of Toronto. Julie is a long-time member of Trinity (23 years) and is actively involved in church and community causes. Today she spoke about poverty in Ontario and some ways we might join together to help.

The tin of tuna ("emergency or benevolence relief work"), the fishing rod ("teach a person how to fish..."), and the shovel ("digging deeper into the systemic and underlying issues behind the need...social justice people asking those annoying questions that make us all feel uncomfortable"). "It is a Christian imperative to help people be responsible for themselves. Anything we do to make people dependent on us is wrong....Do you think Trinity Aurora could take on the responsibility of helping a refugee family resettle in Canada?"
