Throughout much of the 163-year history of Trinity Anglican Church in Aurora, Ontario, music has been a very important part of the liturgy of our services. Over the past fifty years, the parish has grown beyond belief but has remained faithful to its roots, honouring the traditions established by our forebears. Although most services are held in the main church (opened in 2001), the 1884 church building is regularly used for smaller services. Since 1950, there have been just four musical directors, three of whom were raised in the English college-cathedral tradition and although the work involved has expanded to require separate positions of Director of Music and Organist, both the current incumbents were trained in England in the special role that music plays in Anglican liturgy. There are now well over 100 persons involved in the music programme ranging in age from 7 to 77 years. Trinity is especially proud of the number of youth participating in its music, and of its long association with the Toronto Diocesan Girls' Choir School held each year in August. The 2001 church has also proved to be an excellent venue for secular music events, and currently hosts two orchestras together with other special concerts and recitals. |

I would urge anyone who feels that they may enjoy being part of any of
the established music groups at Trinity to give serious
consideration to joining any one of them. There is obviously
some commitment required, but the rewards are many. I would
encourage you to approach either myself or the leader of the group(s) that interest you. If you don't know who the leaders
are, please click
